Once a piece of lumber is too short to mill down for furniture, it usually gets tossed into the scrap pile. What a waste! My solution is to honor those off-cuts and transform them into functional pieces. These do not come in standard dimensions — each one individually reveals itself out of the blank it comes from. Turned from solid hardwood harvested in the U.S.

Carved Plate in Walnut

Carved Plate in Walnut

$180.00

This one is inspired by our friend, Susana!

In a quick iPhone photo we took of another Walnut plate, she mistook a shadow for an asymmetrical design. When she realized it wasn’t, she said “On the bottom left of the bowl it looks like the lip widens out. I LOVE THAT!” This is the first exploration of an asymmetrical form.

Turned from a solid piece of American Walnut, the outer rim features a hand-carved texture that catches the light and stimulates the fingers.
